High School Marine Science and Conservation Program

The Reef Institute’s High School Marine Science and Conservation Program is a two-part, work-intensive experience designed for students ages 15 to 18 who want to explore marine science through real-world application. Week one takes place June 8–12 at The Reef Institute facility, where students focus on lab-based learning including coral care and restoration techniques, water quality testing, and scientific data analysis. Week two, held June 15–19 at Peanut Island, shifts into field research and ecosystem monitoring, giving students hands-on experience in a dynamic marine environment. Across both weeks, participants develop skills in data collection, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving while building a strong foundation in environmental and conservation literacy. Students may enroll in one or both weeks. Tuition is $400 for week one, $500 for week two, or $800 for both weeks.
